The corvette "Amiral Petre Barbuneanu" set off in mission

Today, the corvette representing the Romanian Naval Forces leaves Mangalia Military Harbour at 12.00 hrs, to take part in international naval exercise held within the annual programme "BlackSea Partnership 09".

The purpose of this exercise is strengthening the friendship among the countries having access to the Black Sea. For a better cooperation among participating naval forces, the full practice consists of antiterrorist fight simulation, defence from attacks of surface ships, aviation or submarines, artillery fire and sea rescue.

Romania will contribute to corvette "Amiral Petre Bărbuneanu", which will start marching to Turkey, where other representative of Black Sea littoral states. The Russian Federation will contribute with a submarine hunter and Georgia with a patrol ship. Turkey is the most involved country, as they are offering two missile range instrumentation ships and two mine sweepers.

Once all naval forces reunited, they will start the exercise within Black Sea international waters until 4th of May.

Corvette "Amiral Petre Bărbuneanu" is under the command of captain - commodore Marian Rusu and has a 117 member crew.
