A century since the first religious service was performed at Carol I Mosque

On June 6th, Mufti of the Muslim Cult in Romania held a series of festivities celebrating the end of a century since the first religious service celebration was performed in Carol I Mosque from Constanta.
Unique architectural monument in Romania, Carol I Mosque was inaugurated on May 31st, 1913 in the presence of King Carol I and Queen Elizabeth, the royal family who gave this building to the Muslims from the Black Sea shore to reward their loyalty to the Romanian state.
Carol I Mosque is the first reinforced concrete building built in Romania based on engineer Gogu Constantinescu designs and under the guidance of architect Victor Stefanescu.
The style used by the astisans combines the Egyptian and the Byzantine elements and also Romanian ornaments which makes unique the imposing edifice.
Carol I Mosque centenary was celebrated in the presence of local authorities, Romanian and Turkish state official, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Romania and Muslim leaders from the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe, Russian Federation and other countries.
