Black Sea turned into red
Black Sea turned into red

Unique and extremely rare phenomenon
occured Friday on the southern coastline. Since
early morning, in the Olympus Resort area, the sea changed into a deep
red
color. Tourists in the resort were able to experience a dip in the "Red
Sea".
The "affected" area stretched from Olympus Resort, near the Fishermen Halt, right up to Neptune Resort. Specialists give us assurances that it's not a harmful to health phenomenon, and it's about some ordinary, microscopic algae.
"Certainly, because of the heat and because that area is one with worm water golf, there was a bloom of the microscopic red algae. It is a rare phenomenon, especially since it's not about "ordinary" algae that usually gather on the shore", declared Doctor Mariana Petre, Director of Public Health Department of Mangalia.
