Cruises between Constanta and the Greek islands
"The presence of he is welcome in
the context in which Romania tries to position itself distinctly in the
international tourism market and in the conditions in which the tourism
operators search for solutions to fight the crisis. I consider this change of
experience very important" declared the Minister of Tourism, Elena Udrea. She
added that Greece and Romania have common interests regarding the fact that both
promote the tourist season and the cultural and religious one. Moreover, Elena
Udrea affirmed that it is interesting the solution found by the Greek
government which, during the crisis, doubled the budget addressed to promoting
the tourism, the sum reaching 150 million euros, while Romania only disposes of
10 million euros. In Greece, the tourism contributes with 20 % to the Product
Intern Brut PIB.
Elena Udrea stated that she talked
with the Greek official for promoting some joint tourist projects among which
being the initiation of a cruise which will link Constanta with the Greek
islands. The idea could become possible until the end of this season.
The chief of the Greek Tourism
Organization Ioannis Kofinis, declared that the visit in Romania offered him
the chance of changing opinions and of sharing some of his country's tourism
experience in this field. "I was informed about the success of Romania's
external tourist promotion. We believe that in the tourist field there is a
very good collaboration base" declared Ioannis Kofinis.
The press statements were made on the Mamaia beach which offered all the tourists who were nearby the possibility to admire Elena Udrea who wore an ethereal white outfit. The Minister of Tourism stated that the details of the cruise which will link the Black Sea with the Greek islands will be finalized after a further travel she will make to Greece.
