victoria_pdl.jpgRomanian Presidential Election Final confirmed once again that the inhabitants from the Black Sea coast are consistent.

On the coast, the second round of the presidential election, from Sunday, brought the candidate supported by Democrat-Liberal Party (PD-L), Traian Basescu, a clear victory over his counter candidate from Social Democratic Party (PSD), Mircea Geoana.

PNL or PSD traditional constituency from Constanţa County didn't accept to support coming true the great dream of the coalition made between the two rounds.

The one who jumped up ad down as a kindergarten child, president according to exit polls, didn't convince the electors from Constanţa to give him the president mandate.

At county level 385.795 (61.41%) citizen reported to the polls and clearly decided: 204.433 (53.63%) -Traian Băsescu and 176.747 (46.36%) - Mircea Dan Geoană.

A analysis over localities showed the way citizens from Constanţa County voted and brought to light the fact that party duties aren't always obeyed, that appearances are deceiving and that in the voting booth each individual is sovereign.

Geoană, obvious looser in urban areas

Among the 12 towns and cities from the county, PSD candidate, who had multiple political support managed to obtain first place only in one town and one city.

In the first 2 towns of the county, by area and number of voters, Constanţa and Mangalia, both leaded by PSD mayors, Basescu turned out winner.

If at Constanţa, the difference was 7%, at Mangalia

Geoană suffered a crushing defeat, coming on second place at 28 percent distance from Basescu.

In return, the liberal town Medgidia placed first the PSD candidate, at 4.5% difference.

Among the nine cities from the county, only in Negru Voda most people voted Geoana. Cities like Cernavoda, Eforie, Navodari and Baneasa, all of them with social democratic mayors, said a categoric NO to PSD candidate.

The highest scores for Traian Basescu have been obtained in Murfatlar (61.61%), Ovidiu (61.14%) and Techirghiol (60.63%), even though the mayor is liberal.

PNL supporters voted Băsescu

Over half the communes from Constanţa County voted a president from PSD. Among the other 58 communes Geoana came first in 34, while Traian Basescu won by far in 24. Remarkably is that democrat-liberal's victory was obtained in the big localities and with a big score, which means more votes.

Traian Basescu has been voted massively in localities with liberal mayors, like Corbu (57.43%), Limanu (69.96%), Mihai Viteazu (70.40%), Oltina (53.19%) şi Săcele (61.24%).

Red paled before orange

Among the victories of Traian Basescu in rural area there were some of them right in Social Democratic Party's yard. Agigea (62.07%), Ciobanu (54.47%), Lumina (52.44%), Mihail Kogălniceanu (61.04%), Pecineaga (56.26%) and Tuzla (61.96%) are communes with PSD mayors.

A suprize represented Cumpana, where 51.26% voted the PD-L candidate, although the local administration is social democratic for years.

Mitroi kept his promises

Except for Ion Corvin commune, where Geoana came first, all the others localities with democrat-liberal mayors, not only they "allowed" victory against the PSD adversary, but they obtained very good results. Therefore, Traian Basescu was the first option for the citizen from 23 August (69.87%), Albeşti (69.88%), Castelu (60.31%), Costineşti (63.24%), Ghindăreşti (61.24%), Horia (51.26%), Nicolae Bălcescu (52.47%), Poarta Albă (62.28) and Rasova (59.55%).

But, the biggest victory of Traian Basescu was at Valu lui Traian. As he promised, shortly after the first round, mayor Florin Mitroi managed to determine 69.8 of his inhabitants to go and vote, and the PD-L candidate gained 71.89% of their votes. This was one of the best result from the country and we are talking here of about 4.815 persons. Some might say that Mircea Geoana established a record too, at Pestera, where 74.81 individuals voted for him, but, in reality, this score means only 1.135 votes.
