During 21-25 May representatives of the United States Navy League (NLUS) visited Constanta. The delegation included James H. Offut, President of the institution, William Waylet, director of the League’s Regional Activities, and Nicholas Hayes, President of NLUS for Europe Region.

Last Friday, the Motorola Centre of Excellence in Murfatlar of RAJA Constanta received the visit of the three U.S. officials, who spoke about the importance of the organization to which they belong. "Our mission is non -political and we are pleased that Romania will join us. Our goal is to develop trade by sea, to strengthen partnerships, to support the continuing education of professionals. To understand the importance of sea power, we must make people understand that economic welfare depends on safety at sea. It is essential that everyone understand that we must have strong ships to trade and the Coast Guard to ensure safety", said James H. Offut , President of the institution . In return, Felix Stroe, CEO of RAJA Company, said that "he is a member for life of the Navy League of the United States for five years." "It's flattering for me to be elected honorary chairman of the Romania Council of the U.S. Navy League. We must remember that 70% of the globe is covered by water, the human body is 80% water and 90% of world trade is carried by sea. Therefore, the Romania Council of U.S. Navy League has set the target to support trade, tourism and education of its members to ensure these values", said Felix Stroe.

The Navy League of the United States, present in over 245 countries

The Navy League of the United States (NLUS) was founded in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Navy League has provided a powerful voice for a stronger sea service to Congress and to the American people. The Navy League has grown into the foremost citizens' organization to serve, support, and stand with all the sea services – U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine.
The Navy League is comprised of 43,000 civilians in more than 245 councils around the world working to support sea service members and their families. The Navy League does this through a variety of education programs that remind their fellow citizens that the United States is a maritime nation whose national economic and security interests are inextricably tied to the freedom of the seas.
Over the years, the Navy League has compiled an impressive record of accomplishment. Today the Navy League is widely respected by citizens, community and industrial leaders, and public officials. Navy League programs are welcomed in communities throughout the nation, and members are recognized for their integrity and patriotism.

SCADA pilot project, implemented with American specialists

RAJA SA Constanta Company has become a model among water operators from the country and abroad. Following established relationships with the American specialists, the company managed to implement the latest technologies in the field of water supply and sanitation. RAJA Company  and the U.S. Government through the U.S. Trade and Development Agency of the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest have implemented the SCADA pilot project in Cobadin area. The investment, worth two million euros, of which the American company Motorola Solutions has contributed a grant of 600,000 euros and U.S. government a grant of 1.2 million, involves remote computerized control of all parameters related to water supply and sewerage services in 25 cities. Given the importance of SCADA investment to increase the quality of services provided and the U.S. Government's involvement in this project, the American NLUS delegation visited Friday the Motorola Centre of Excellence in Murfatlar. During the visit U.S. officials learned more about the project and about the Center of Excellence, where specialists are periodically trained to operate SCADA systems. "It’s no coincidence that the U.S. Navy League delegation visited RAJA Company. We have a partnership with the American Department of Commerce since 2005. Now we have a Motorola Centre of Excellence in Murfatlar supporting professionals across the country interested in acquiring the most modern American technology", said Felix Stroe, CEO of RAJA Company.
