Mazare and Nicusor, on the luxury top of local barons

Constanţa PDS team is holding rank no 4 in the top of the possessions of the most important people and local barons, made up by Cotidianul journalists. 

The belongings of the mayor Radu Mazăre and to CJC [Constanţa County Council] president Nicuşor Constantinescu are more extended than other influent barons of our country, like Gheorghe Ştefan, the mayor of Piatra Neamţ, Marian Oprişan, the president of Vrancea County Council and Liviu Dragnea, the president of Teleorman County Council.

The latest declarations of asset posted on the websites of the institutions they represent change the ranks of the most influent people on the Romanian political stage. In the middle of the economical crisis, they may still praise as they own art items and jewels having impressive prices, a lot of lands and buildings and millions of Euros invested or kept in banks.

Althogh they are not reaching the 1st rank holder, UDMR [Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania] senator Verestoy Attila - 6 lands, 7 buildings, 10 million Euros in bank accounts and other several million Euros and lei in shares - our two Constanţa leaders have reasons to show off. So far, only Nicuşor Constantinescu updated, on 15th of June 2009, his declaration of assets. About the mayor Radu Mazăre, it seems that he will wait a little while until he decides to fill in a new form, as for the last 9 years from his nomination as a mayor, he filled in only 3 declarations of assets - 3^rd of May 2000, 18^th of January 2008 and 10^th of July 2008, in spite of the fact that the belongings of the persons having public positions have to be declared annually.

Rank 452 in the billionaire top, rank 4 in the baron top

In the top of the 500 billionaires made by Adevarul daily newspaper, issued in October last year, Constanţa PSD team held the same rank 452, with assets estimated to about 10 million Euros each. This year, out of Nicuşor Constantinescu's declarations we gather that he owns six lands in Ilfov, Tulcea, Piatra Neamţ and Constanţa, and also more than three houses in Bucharest, Constanţa and Piatra Neamţ. In comparison to the last year, he enriched his car collection with two more cars bought in 2008, at this moment having 5 motor vehicles. He also holds a boat, one million dollars in bank accounts and 260,000 lei and 200,000 Euro shares.

Sharing the same rank in Adevarul top,

Constanţa mayor preferred to keep a large part of his fortune in his pocket. According to his declaration on 10^th of July 2008, 230,000 Euros cash, 600,000 Euros and 1.8 million lei shares, 10,000 dollars in accounts, a motor boat and a truck. The mayor did not mention his retro cars which are his property and which are sensational: a '30 - '40 Morgan, for which he might have paid 40,000 Euros, a Jeep Willis, made in 1968, which seems to have cost him 11,000 Euros only, and also a copy of a 1935 Lincoln Zephyr.

The two leaders from the sea coast overreached the fortune of the well-known mayor of Piatra Neamţ mayor, PD-L member Gheorghe Ştefan, known as Pinalt, the president of Suceava County Council, Gheorghe Flutur (PDL), and also the local Vrancea baron, Marian Oprişan and the Teleorman baron, Liviu Dragnea.
