Stolojan: "Mazare is enjoying appointing managers"
"The coalition is working admirably:
both parties want to govern. So, for the time being, we have no other reason to
doubt the good functioning of the coalition. Of course, we sometimes bunt, bear
in mind that we are in the middle of an election campaign and it's unusual for
Romania to have two political parties which are ruling together, but also
competing for both the European Parliament and the President of Romania.
Experiencing some frictions is inevitable. Still, there is one aspect which
cannot be changed and involves the decisions of the Govern", declared Theodor
Stolojan. PD-L prime vice-president took this chance to emphasise the fact that
leading is not such an unbearable thing for most of the coalition members,
including the leaders of Constanţa PSD. "I think that Mr. Mazăre is enjoying
appointing managers for decentralised local institutions", Theodor Stolojan
mentioned.
"PSD may wish to give up governing"
The PD-L leader guarantied the fact that the democratic-liberals have no reasons to reconsider their strategy after the scrutiny on June 7: "If the partnership is not breached (i.e., a hint to the social-democrats), they will not be disturbed". More or less ironically, Theodor Stolojan also considered a possible victory of the PD-L representatives in the Euro-elections, which might cause PSD to "reanalyse their strategy and might wish to give up governing".
When asked to comment on the statement of Geoană, according to which his election as president of Romania would also lead to the replacement of the Prime Minister, Stolojan admitted that the PSD president was making statements which were not always agreed by the democratic-liberals. "He is making statements which we don't always like, but we are very understanding. I don't think Mr. Geoană could possibly win over Mr. Băsescu in an electing competition", said Stolojan, recalling for the PSD leader the fact that for the moment he is bound to support the Govern to pass over the crisis.
