USS Mount Whitney, the U.S. 6th Fleet flagship in the Mediterranean Sea, arrived in the Black Sea port of Constanta, southeastern Romania on Friday for a five-day visit, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The visit schedule includes a bilateral meeting between a delegation headed by the ship's commanding officer Craig A. Clapperton with the leadership of the Romanian Fleet Command.
Romanian Naval Forces said there would also be joint exercises between the U.S. sailors and Romania's King Ferdinand frigate and the crew of the IAR 330 Puma Naval helicopter.
USS Mount Whitney, homeported in Gaeta, Italy, has already visited Burgas of Bulgaria and Batumi of Georgia.
The flagship measures 189 meters in length, 33 meters in width, and has a displacement of 18,400 tonnes. The weapons on the board include four Phalanx CIWS and Boeing/Mk 38 Bushmaster artillery installations.
